Customer Review: After reading reviews of some other brands and the installation problems encountered, I was almost reluctant to buy any router as I am not all that tech-savy. However, I wanted to replace my Spectrum-supplied router and stop paying monthly rent forever.I found that TP-Link’s installation instructions were simple, clear, and best of all, they worked. Getting the router up and running was no problem and I soon was having internet service on two towers and two iPads. The only real problems I encountered were with trying to get my Roku box and Ring doorbell connected to the internet. The problem was my wi-fi password. HELPFUL HINT: when you set up the new wi-fi site, you will need to create a password, as you don’t just automatically use your old site. When creating your password, use only letters and numbers, NO special characters like ##, etc. For some reason Roku and Ring, did not recognize the password. I contacted Ring for help, Ring finally passed me off to TP-Link and Walter, a very patient and helpful rep led me through all sorts of steps, and finally mentioned the password problem. I changed the wi-fi password to only letters (Caps are OK) and numbers and had no more problems and got Ring and Roku up on internet in no time. This problem may happen with some other apps; don’t take that chance. Letters and numbers only.I should mention, there was no attempt to get me to buy into a multi-year security program like some people have complained about some other brands.I’m not sure, but I think this router is faster than the Spectrum router; that may be my wishful thinking. At the worst, it is just as fast as the Spectrum router, which is plenty fast for me. This router has good range and covers my whole house.I am very happy with my new router and highly recommend it.

Nicely packaged and the set-up instruction guide is easy to follow. Significantly better coverage in our 2000 ft² condo than our previous Linksys router — and now no dead zones. Customer Review: As A Spectrum Internet CustomerI had a Spectrum Advanced WiFi router that does 2G and 5G on the same WiFi network. There is not a way to split the networks in two. If you have a cell phone that is compatible with device steering and you use to connect your 2G devices to, you can call or chat with their Internet Repair support team to set up a feature on your cell phone that may allow the 2G devices to connect but it can be a hit or a miss and it’s too much of a hassle to keep calling/chatting to set this up with as the feature is enabled for only sixty minutes. If the 2G device is connected before the hour is over, it will remain connected but if it’s not, you’ll need to reach back out to try again and you’ll also need to reach back out for other new 2G devices only that don’t automatically connect to the 2G network.This is a major flaw for an “Advanced” WiFi router. Customers paying a monthly $5 fee to lease their routers should be able to either split the networks in two or leave them as a single network for band steering. Outside of this, the Spectrum routers are fine. However, it’s just better to get your own router.It would be great if they offered more advanced routers with more features such as VPN’s, hiding network SSID, splitting the 2G and 5G networks, guest network and more. I’d pay $5 more a month on top of the already $5 charge for this. The signals itself are just healthier now.I also like that the TP-Link router has antennas, four of them to be exact, that you can see. The Spectrum routers don’t have these and if they do, they’re within the router itself. I believe routers with antennas that you can visibly see operate better and send stronger signals.Did This Resolve My Issue With The Echo Dot’s?It absolutely did. I re-connected all four Echo Dot’s to the 2G network, which was kind of a pain as well to do (but well worth the time and effort; it would’ve been significantly easier to do if I originally connected them to a dual band router in the first place) and ever since then I have had no issues with multi-room audio. Anytime I want to play music from all four Echo Dot’s at the same time, they all play without issue. Which is great because I plan on purchasing more for a more surround system environment.Final NotesIf you need a dual band WiFi router that is able to split the networks in two so that you can sign into them separately, this is it. And honestly, if you have a Spectrum router, this is a major upgrade for a fraction of the cost. Just make sure you keep it clean of dust, and keep it in a well-ventilated and cool area of the home and this will easily last you 2+ years. It saves you money and it works better. It’s honestly a no-brainer.There is also a common misconception with spotty/slow Internet speeds. The majority of signal issues do not come from cable lines (confirm with your ISP provider first though that the signal levels look healthy coming into and from your Internet modem) but come from the equipment itself (modem and/or router) or from the devices you are using (assuming it is only occurring on one or two devices). Which is why upgrading your WiFi router and/or Internet modem can resolve the issues.I honestly don’t have any issues with the Spectrum Internet modems. I think they’re fine. They all come pre-built, meaning, you can’t change any settings on them. Not a deal breaker for me. However, honestly, if I didn’t have a Landline service with them, I would’ve purchased my own modem as well and long-term wise I will definitely consider it. The Spectrum Internet equipment are fine for the majority of homes. However, there is no one size fits all and if you’re having issues with your equipment whether due to the lack of features available or signal issues (and confirmed with their Internet Repair team that there are no signal issues coming from the lines), this TP-Link router is an exceptional purchase.

Disregard my stand, it’s temporary lol) powers everything and really no limit on devices that you can have compared to other routers. Has gaming mode and all that. Since installed I’m over my gigabyte speed and everything is flawless in operation. Even has anti-virus protection which is nice. It displays not onlyn2.4 and 5.0 but 6 ghz as well, only shows one but devices will switch automatically to whatever network speed is faster all by the router, (How cool is that). Has a restart mode so it stays running fast and of course updates automatically which is standard for most routers. Worth the money if you have a large home, multiple streaming, gaming devices like me. Doesn’t bottleneck either!

Customer Review: We have lived in my house for over 10 years. It’s an older house built in the 60s, There are 6 of us in the house 4 adults, one 13y and one 7y. We have 3 ring devices, 4 Alexa’s, 6 fire sticks, 6 computers, 6 gaming consoles, a generator, and we all have iPads, cell phones etc, so there are a lot of devices connected to our wifi, so we’ve never had great luck with the range or performance of our internet signal. Things would buffer alot or we’d have dropped signals, so I was always restarting the router. We use to have Brighthouse but currently have Spectrum with just internet, We upgraded our internet to 1GB over a year ago and was given a dual band wifi 5 router that never really worked for us perfectly, I believe it was because it couldn’t support 1GB, but didn’t know that until I got this router. We were using an extender so we could connect to our generator and ring camera that was located outside, and just so you can have an idea, on our generator the wifi signal was at 2%, which was fine but if we wanted to connect anything else outside it was almost impossible. So we contacted customer support about the issues we were having, and they sent us there newest router the wifi 6e router, mind you we were still using the extender. It worked good for a couple days then it stopped. A lot of buffering and a lot of devices wouldn’t even connect to it like my Oculus Quest 2, my husbands work computer and more! I couldn’t even connect our ring camera outback, and the generator outside was getting 0%-1% signal, so the signal would drop a lot. I figured it was because a lot of things still aren’t compatible with wifi 6. So we called support again they did manage to get everything working for about 5 days, then it would stop again. So we called support for the last time and they told us to try to buy a router ourselves. So I happened to come across this one. I was pretty skeptical, thinking it may work as well as the dual band one we had only maybe a little better. The setup process was so easy! Didn’t have to call Spectrum at all! I do wish that the parental controls, security+ and, QoS was free. But they do give you a free month with any of them. So I did the security+. The app you use with it is great! There are a lot of tools in the settings. You can have it auto connect to a network or set it up separately so you can choose 2.4, 5 or 6G, which is what I did. You can have a guest network, optimize your network performance and a lot more! Everything connected perfectly with excellent signal! So I figured I would try to connect the generator and ring camera outback without the extender just for kicks, since I was feeling optimistic😎 The ring camera connected perfectly with excellent signal! Now was the most important test, the generator😵‍💫 Connected it for the first time and I see 22% signal!!! I was SOOO excited! Then I went to the farthest part of my backyard with my cell phone where Iv never had wifi signal before and I had 3-4 bars of wifi signal!!! I couldn’t believe it! This thing has GREAT range, GREAT performance, and is easy to set up and use, what else could you want! It’s been a couple weeks now, no buffering! and everything works flawlessly! I couldn’t be happier! No one complaining for me to fix the wifi anymore and no restarting it twice a week! I would definitely recommend this to anyone that has horrible or just ok wifi signal. The hardware is more than enough to keep up with gigabit speeds, and the wifi speed and reliability is exceptional. Customer Review: Yay. I love my new router. I have a lot of smarthome devices, and I host a home web/game server for work. I was very afraid that my port forwarding/dynamic DNS and smarthome would be a pain to migrate to a new router. I was wrong. I used the same network name and password as my old router, and all of my devices reconnected fine (except one chinese security camera which i fixed after). The range is as decent as my old Netgear Nighthawk R7000. The lower frequencies (2.4ghz) have higher range and are better for that. But for processing power of a router, this is it baby. This thing increased my network speed by ~100mbps down and also decreased my latency, pretty impressive. This thing will easily be able to handle all of my smart home devices, server needs and gaming/streaming needs. I think it was a worthy upgrade from my 13yr old router. Quick setup tip: make sure to power down your modem and router first, because your modem is expecting the previous routers MAC address, so you might have to call your ISP and have them send a reboot signal from their end to get your modem to accept the new router MAC address. Other than that, setup was a breeze. Dynamic DNS works well, port forwarding was easy, and there are SO many features I haven’t even looked into yet.I also have a TP-LINK network switch, and the router and switch are playing nicely together. All and all, I had netgear routers for like 20 years and they were great, i’m pleased to say that TP-LINK is also great, time will tell though.

After getting frustrated with ongoing issues, I decided to upgrade to the BE6500, and the difference has been night and day.The BE6500 has been significantly better to work with. Setup was straightforward, firmware has been stable, and I have not had a single WiFi issue since installing it. No random disconnects, no weird slowdowns just consistent, reliable performance.Speeds are excellent, coverage is strong throughout the house, and the 2.5Gb ports are a great addition for higher speed networking. It feels like a properly refined version compared to the BE5000.If you’re debating between the two, the BE6500 has been far more stable in my experience. Very happy with the upgrade.

Customer Review: Excelente router. Very fast Wi-Fi. Setup was very easy. I use OpenVPN and Wireguard. Both were easy to set up with really nothing to configure. I asked my VPN provider for a configuration file with my streaming IP and I dragged and dropped the file in the corresponding place and tapped on start, easypeasy. They have an app to monitor and make changes to the settings. The MLO is very nice. My Samsung Galaxy 25 Ultra supports this and it’s super fast and because it supports 3 bands, it’s has very good range. Even though it’s kind of pricey, it packs a lot of bang for the buck, especially with the OpenVPN and Wireguard throughput. I have 500 up and down and I’m getting Wireguard speeds of 350 up and down, OpenVPN speeds of 250 up and down. So I’m pretty happy.

Most recently used a Netgear RS100 which suffered from random connection drops and has an extremely slow UI/app.In comparison, Flint 3 has an extremely responsive UI, no setup app required, just login to the router IP address. No phone app to setup was key for me as the Netgear app was terrible.Essentially works right out of the box. On my 1Gbps service, 5ghz gets to 750mpbs, 6ghz gets to 950mbps. The user interface is slick and fast and much more responsive than any other router interface i have ever used. I can get sustained speed everywhere in a 3 story home,so the router is no slackerThe reason for not enough stars is this: running into some issues with the 6ghz band. I do have a ax210ngw on the desktop but it’s not detecting the 6ghz band. So need more investigation on cause of this. Its hard to investigate the cause other than getting another wifi 6e client which are by far few. Maybe I’ll snag my friends samsung s21 in a couple of days and will be able to actually test it on 6ghz—-Edit—-Update 2/5/2020On a 1Gbps line, I can consistently get about 700-800 Mbps 3 story up (router is on the basement) on a DFS channel for an AX device. AC devices are no slouches either and now top at 500-600 Mbps 3 story up. On non-DFS channels I top around 450-550 Mbps so that is not bad either. Guess I don’t need to buy a Mesh network!AX210 doesn’t work on windows. Found a thread on intel forums that it might need a windows update later on for activating 6ghz (thread name: Intel AX210 can’t create 6GHz hotspot ). Also found that linux 5.11 should support 6Ghz so tried it out with Ubuntu and 5.11rc6. Unfortunately though the AP is detected connection fails so I guess its more wait and watch with linux too. Atleast the Ax210 saw the 6ghz AP. So yay my device is not broken.And my friend bought a regular S21 so that testing avenue is gone for the time being.Edit Nov 20216Ghz band works great on a Pixel 6 Pro. The range is shorter than the 5Ghz band and the phone shows lower signal strength but the 6ghz bandwidth speed in my house is usually more than what I get with the 5GhzOther than that,the perfect router. I use remote desktop from my top story laptop to my computer in the basement and use Zoom video and audio and both latency and bandwidth are great enough that I can use Zoom effectively. love the router!
