Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Headset Review: After One Month of UseI wanted to spend some time with this headset before sharing my thoughts. Here’s how it stacks up after a month of regular use:________________________________________Comfort: ★★★★☆ (4.5/5)The soft memory foam ear cushions make wearing it comfortable for extended periods. The headband is adjustable on the sides, but not on top — so if you have a particularly wide head, that might be something to consider. I haven’t worn it for more than 4 hours straight at a time, but within that window, I haven’t experienced any discomfort.________________________________________Sound Quality: ★★★★★ (5/5)Although I primarily use these for conference calls rather than music, the sound quality is excellent. The active noise cancellation is outstanding and a real lifesaver in a busy office with lots of background chatter. At home, I have to remember to pause my music before putting them on because the ANC blocks out everything, including my Alexa music! I’m also looking forward to trying them out on a plane soon.________________________________________Battery Life: ★★★★★ (5/5)I used this headset for every meeting over a two-week span without charging it once. It just wouldn’t die! Eventually, I decided to charge it because I didn’t want to swap to another headset mid-call. I can confidently say the battery easily lasts more than 20 hours, which is far better than any of my other four headsets.________________________________________Controls & Features: ★★★★★ (5/5)All essential controls — volume, play/pause, call answer/end, mute — are conveniently located at your fingertips. The flip-to-mute mic and quick mute shortcuts are super handy. The combination of Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) and Environmental Noise Cancellation (ENC) works wonders, drastically reducing background noise for both me and the people on the other end of calls.________________________________________Bluetooth Connectivity: ★★★★★ (5/5)The headset connects lightning-fast to my laptop, and if your device doesn’t have Bluetooth, it comes with a USB dongle. I’ve tested walking about 30 feet away from my laptop, and it still maintains a solid connection.________________________________________Overall ImpressionOverall, this headset excels in sound quality, battery performance, and ease of use. It is an excellent choice for professionals in hybrid work environments seeking a reliable and feature-rich audio solution.

Customer Review: I had some cheap earphones with the microphone built in on the cable, but I got tired of them because you have to be careful the microphone doesn’t touch anything, or the person on the other side would hear it. I needed it a good quality headset with an affordable price and also a very comfortable headphone with a strong and stable microphone. I’m glad I found this headset. It was very easy to set it up and the controls are simple. It’s super comfortable and light. The sound quality is great. I can finally have a clear and hands free conversation while I’m walking, or even washing dishes. The sound cancelation is good because I was vacuuming and the person I was talking to could barely hear it. I love that it magnifies my voice over other background noises. I also use it to listen to music or any videos on YouTube and video calls. The battery lasts a long time and you get a voice warning when the battery is running low. You can charge it on the stand stand or directly connect the charging cable to the headset to charge it when you’re not at home with the stand. Yesterday, I had a three hour conversation over the phone and my ears didn’t hurt or felt any type of discomfort. Blootooth connectivity is great. I can walk to my back yard and the connection stays strong.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I’ve never been too particular about headphones, but I’ve always wanted to have a good pair. Every time I looked for something nice, though, it turned out to be too expensive, so I ended up giving up on it. For a long time, I didn’t buy any because I didn’t want to get something too cheap and unreliable. Then I came across this headset at a reasonable price and decided to give it a try — and I’m so glad I did!I often watch singing competition shows, usually late at night after putting my 5-year-old to bed. Sometimes my child would wake up when the sound leaked from the speakers, so I’d been wanting headphones even more. Recently, I’ve also been working from home occasionally, so I needed a headset with a microphone. This one turned out to be the perfect combination of quality and affordability. The sound quality is much better than I expected. It doesn’t seem to have active noise cancelling in the electronic sense, but the passive noise isolation works surprisingly well. When I listen to singing audition programs with this headset, I can clearly hear the differences in each contestant’s tone and vocal texture — something I couldn’t notice before.I personally don’t like in-ear earphones because my ears get oily easily, so this over-ear style is perfect for me. It covers my ears comfortably without feeling too tight, and it really brings out the richness of the sound.I haven’t measured it precisely, but the battery life seems excellent. The Bluetooth connection is strong — once, I even went downstairs to the first floor without realizing I still had the headset on, and it stayed connected the whole time!Of course, it’s a shame I can’t share the sound quality directly since that’s something you have to hear for yourself. But I’m really happy with this purchase, and I wanted to leave a review for anyone who’s considering it. So far, I’m completely satisfied — and I will share more here if I have any updates.

Customer Review: I’ve been using this Wireless Bluetooth Headset with Microphone for work-from-home meetings and office calls, and it’s been a fantastic upgrade. The noise-cancelling mic does a great job filtering out background sounds, which is perfect for busy environments or shared spaces. My voice comes through clearly on Zoom and Teams, even with kids or pets nearby. The mute button is easy to access and super handy during long meetings. I also appreciate the lightweight design—it’s comfortable enough to wear for hours without pressure or fatigue. The wireless connection is stable across my laptop and phone, and the battery life easily lasts through a full workday.Whether you’re in a call center, remote office, or just need a dependable headset for virtual meetings, this one delivers solid performance and comfort. Highly recommended for professionals who value clarity, convenience, and seamless multitasking.

6. Poly Blackwire 5220 Wired Headset

Poly Blackwire 5220 Wired Headset, Noise Cancelling, Flexible Boom Mic

Poly (formerly Plantronics) is another enterprise giant, and the Blackwire 5220 is their workhorse wired model. It’s built for all-day comfort and superior microphone clarity. The noise-canceling boom mic is excellent, and the ear cups provide passive sound isolation. A major perk is the included USB-C to USB-A adapter and 3.5mm jack, making it compatible with virtually any device you own—from your work laptop to your personal phone.

Key Features That Stand Out

  • Superior Noise-Canceling Mic: Professional-grade microphone that makes your voice come through crisp and clear.
  • Universal Connectivity: USB-C native, includes USB-A adapter and a 3.5mm jack for phones/tablets.
  • Passive Noise Isolation: Over-ear design blocks out your environment for better focus.
  • In-Line Controls with Mute Alert: Physical buttons and a beep when you speak while muted.

Why We Recommend It

We recommend the Blackwire 5220 for its exceptional versatility and microphone performance. If you take calls on multiple device types (PC, Mac, phone, tablet) and need one headset to rule them all, this is the one. The microphone quality is among the best for wired headsets, crucial for important presentations or client calls where every word counts.

Best For

Professionals who switch between a work computer and personal mobile devices. Also ideal for users in very noisy environments (like a shared home) who need the best possible microphone to be heard.

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Microphone quality is outstanding; people consistently comment on clarity.
  • Incredibly versatile with USB-C, USB-A, and 3.5mm connectivity.
  • Excellent passive noise isolation from the ear cups.
  • Comes with a nice carrying case and thoughtful accessories.
Cons:
  • On-ear design (not over-ear) may cause slight discomfort for some over many hours.
  • The long cable can be unwieldy if you don’t need the length.
  • Pricier than basic wired models, but justified by the features.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I ordered this with only moderate expectations — it’s a known brand, but you can never tell nowadays, especially at this price point. Fortunately, this wired headset fits comfortably, folds flat, came with a storage bag, AND has a sound canceling microphone that apparently sounds quite clear to people I spoke to. The sound quality in my ears was decent, though I didn’t push it hard. I was using it for Zoom and telephone calls.I was also extremely surprised, because although I intentionally ordered the “outdated” USB-A version, it came with a USB-A to USB-C adapter on a tiny lanyard at the end of the cable. EXCELLENT! Not expected, and since it’s not listed in the description, YMMV. 🙂 I used the headset successfully on my Android phone, both with its USB-C connection AND with its barrel connector.I’m not really fond of the volume control and mute “remote,” but the switches do seem to work, with a beeping noise and sometimes a strange delay (though that might be my computer running Ubuntu 24.04 LTS). I couldn’t get the volume switches to do what I wanted on my phone, but again that might be due to my particular phone.I’m also a little disappointed in the thin gauge of the cable from the barrel connector (for the remote or a phone or whatever) to the headset. It seems VERY thin. I guess that makes it feel lighter, but the cable from the remote to the USB connector is about twice as thick, so it feels sturdier.I also had trouble inserting the barrel connector back into the remote, but that issue is clearly (well, pictorially) mentioned in the (wordless) instructions. Just press harder, until the end of the barrel disappears into the remote. If my experience with other headsets holds up, the first thing to fail will be the “leathery” plastic covering on the earpieces. It doesn’t look like it will last hugely long, but as I said at the top, I don’t have an expectation for much more at this reasonable price. (Less than forty dollars, mid 2025.)If the company makes replacement earpiece covers available, I will be all over it! But I won’t order them in advance, in case the cable or something else breaks before I need them.

Customer Review: This Poly Plantronics headset has met – exceeded my expectations since purchasing it.I suspect most buyers use this headset in an office or call center setting. For me this is not the case; I purchased this to enhance my experience with so much of coursework and lectures happening online.Comfort: The headset is very comfortable overall. The ear pads are soft and do not make my ears feel very hot after extended use. Note that this is an on-ear headset as opposed to an over-ear headset. The padded cushioning on the band makes it feel comfortable on the head as well. The 10-setting adjustability of the sizing is fantastic – it really allows for a very customized fit. After a hours of straight use my ears do feel some discomfort, but that is the nature of ears. I do not blame the product for this.Sound: I opted for the dual-ear headset to block out outside noise that may be present while I’m on calls. It works well for that and sufficiently mutes the gardeners and traffic while I’m on calls.Microphone: This is a main reason I bought this headset, and it has been fantastic. My first usage of it, I signed into class early when only my teacher was on the Zoom call. I said hello and then asked how my sound quality was. He said even before I asked, it was clearly noticeable how crisp and clear it was. Also, this a teacher who records podcasts and lectures and thus takes his sound-quality seriously and he was very impressed. It also mutes sounds around you, such as air conditioners, keyboard typing, pencil writing etc. If it is picked up, the microphone heavily silences it so that it is barely noticeable. Great microphone.Usability: This is a “plug and play” headset which means you just plug it in and you’re good to go. You don’t need to pair it, sync it, or anything else. You plug it and and your computer automatically picks it up as the primary audio and microphone device. This means on platforms like Zoom, you do NOT need to select it as your preferred microphone – it happens automatically. It makes it very convenient to use. This model also has a 3.5 mm headphone jack making it perfect to use with a phone or tablet as well.Features: People complain about how long the wire is. I definitely understand the complaint. I haven’t measured it, but it’s quite long. That said, I don’t mind it at all. This has allowed to to get up from my chair and walk to another part of my room to grab something while not disconnecting from the call for even a second, or having to unplug and replug my headset. And if you don’t need all the length, you can the wire a couple times and tie it with something to keep it shorter for most of your usage. The in-line volume, mute, and pick up/hang up is very helpful too. The mute button integrates with Zoom which is very nice. There is also a great setting that if you speak into the mic while on mute, the headphone makes a low beeping sound in your ear to let you know you’re muted. It’s very cool.Design/Construction: The headset is slick and has a very pleasing appearance. It also feels nicely built and doesn’t feel flimsy or like it will break. You can also use this headset with the mic on whichever side you please and it rotates to accommodate it on either side. It also comes with a decent carrying case for travel. While this headset is a bit pricey, I think it is worth its price point if you will use it frequently. If you need something for more infrequent use, go with a cheaper model. But if you plan on using it regularly, you’ll be happy with the purchase.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: Aesthetically pleasing. Comfortable. I had AI Find a very specific headset with the following requirements:Bluetooth capable connecting to two different devices simultaneously: a laptop and a cell phone.AI noise canceling microphone. Microphone extender. Raise extender to mute.Does not require a docking station to charge. Charges via USB-C.Less than $100This was literally the only headset that met all of this criteria simultaneously, and now that I am literally doing voice to text through the microphone of the headset right now, they feel extremely comfortable. The sound quality is very good. They are charging super fast as I speak. And I highly highly recommend this product. And yes, I can switch over from Music on my cell phone to listening to YouTube videos on the laptop instantly no buttons to push just literally activate play pause on whatever device I want, and the music streams through the audio. That’s how technology should function. It should be simple and magic and this headset qualifies. get yourself a pair you won’t regret it.

Customer Review: These headphones replace a more expensive set of bluetooth headphones I’ve used for Zoom / Teleconference calls. The mic has a really nice (but sometimes annoying) feature of muting when folded up. That helps to minimize the possibility of distracting noise going out on a call. The sound quality is excellent, and the ear cups are soft and comfortable. It has the ability to connect to two different Bluetooth-enabled devices, which makes switching back and forth easy and convenient.Pro:1. Weight. These are lightweight and do not add stress to my neck through the workday.2. Sound quality. These work for calls, and also for music. Very good on all fronts.3. Auto-mute on microphone, with an audible “Mute Off” or “Mute On” when raising or lowering the boom micCons:1. Carrying case is just a cloth bag. Not much protection if traveling.I would recommend these for the home or office worker who needs to participate in Zoom (or similar) calls, minimize outside noise, and still listen to music between calls.

And the charging dock is super useful for keeping things organized and together in my workspace. All in all, it’s got the quality and features of a much more expensive headset, at a great price!

Complete Buying Guide for Best Work From Home Headsets

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing a work-from-home headset, noise cancellation is the most critical feature. Look for headsets with both a noise-canceling microphone (to filter your background noise) and, if possible, passive or active noise isolation (to block outside sounds so you can focus). Comfort is equally important—look for padded ear cups, an adjustable headband, and a lightweight design, especially if you wear it for 6+ hours. Battery life for wireless models should be at least 20 hours; 40+ is ideal for forgetful charging. Connectivity is key: USB-A/C for wired, Bluetooth for wireless, and a USB dongle for a lag-free PC connection. Finally, check for in-line controls for mute and volume—they save you from digging through software menus.

Budget Planning

You can get a solid, reliable wired headset for under $40. For wireless, expect to spend $60-$120 for a good balance of features and performance. The $80-$100 range often offers the best value with features like long battery life, noise cancellation, and charging docks. Avoid ultra-cheap wireless models ($20-$30); they often have poor battery life, flaky connectivity, and ineffective noise cancellation that will frustrate you daily.

Final Thoughts

The “best” headset is the one that fits your specific work style and environment. If you’re on calls all day in a noisy house, prioritize microphone noise cancellation and a comfortable fit. If you move around your home, wireless with a long battery is non-negotiable. If you hate charging, go wired. Our top picks cover every scenario—from the rock-solid Logitech H390 to the feature-packed budget wireless model. Invest in a good headset; it’s one of the few home office upgrades that directly impacts your daily professionalism and sanity.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Should I get a wired or wireless headset for working from home?

A: Choose wired if you want zero latency, no battery anxiety, and the lowest cost. It’s the most reliable for all-day use. Choose wireless for freedom of movement, a cleaner desk, and the ability to step away from your computer. Modern wireless with a USB dongle offers excellent stability, so it’s a great choice if you don’t mind charging every few days.

Q: What is the difference between ANC and ENC noise cancellation?

A: ANC (Active Noise Cancellation) uses microphones and electronics to cancel out ambient sound *around you* (like an air conditioner or traffic). ENC (Environmental Noise Cancellation) uses algorithms to filter out *your background noise* from the microphone signal so the person on the other end hears you clearly. The best headsets use both.

Q: How important is a dedicated USB dongle for a wireless headset?

A: Very important for PC use. While Bluetooth works, a dedicated USB dongle (often with a Qualcomm chipset) provides a stronger, lower-latency connection that’s less prone to dropouts and interference. It’s a pro feature that makes a huge difference in call reliability, especially in homes with lots of Wi-Fi traffic.

Q: Are over-ear headsets better than on-ear for comfort?

A: Generally, yes. Over-ear headsets (ear cups that fully enclose your ears) distribute pressure better and provide superior passive noise isolation. On-ear headsets (ear cups that sit on your ears) can cause more heat buildup and pressure points after a few hours. For all-day wear, over-ear is usually more comfortable.

Q: What’s a Busylight and do I need one?

Busylight is a small LED indicator (usually on the headset or a separate device) that glows red when you’re on a call. It’s a visual “do not disturb” sign for people in your home or office. It’s a fantastic feature for anyone who shares their space and wants to avoid accidental interruptions during important meetings.

Investing in the right work-from-home headset is one of the easiest ways to boost your productivity, call quality, and overall comfort. Whether you need the rock-solid reliability of a wired model like the Logitech H390, the marathon battery of the Wireless Bluetooth 5.3 Headset, or the budget-friendly feature explosion of the 2025 Upgraded Wireless Headset, there’s a perfect match on this list for your needs and budget. Don’t suffer through another call with poor audio—upgrade your setup today and feel the difference a professional headset makes.
