Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Ever since the introduction of IOS 26, I’ve wanted to use my 13” iPad Pro for more than a new media and entertainment platform. As an entrepreneur, I rarely sit in an office and work, choosing to work in my recliner, or out by the pool as I am now. This case provides the mobility options I wanted, turning my iPad Pro into a fully functional laptop-type on which I can write. As I typically do, I read reviews of similar case/keyboard combinations; after doing so, it was an easy choice for me to chose the Typecase Edge. I’m sitting here with my iPad Pro on my lap, the screen tilts into the perfect position as the sun moves through the sky, the keyboard is solid, and the keys have an excellent feel and responsiveness. As a piano player, all of my music is in an app. When I want to play, the iPad easily comes off allowing me to set it on my piano. This is, by far, the best screen/keyboard I’ve used for my iPad Pro.”
Customer Review: “This keyboard is the best I’ve had! I had used another brand for years, but they stopped making a great iPad case, so I decided to try the Typecase Edge. The cantilever viewing options are amazing, and the joints are very strong so the iPad stays in place. I love the different back light choices, and the track pad. The keyboard has a really good typing pressure with the keys. I had one key that recently became loose and I contacted customer support. They responded super fast, and asked for a picture of the problem. I thought they would send me a key replacement, but to my surprise they send me a BRAND NEW keyboard replacement – exactly the same model and color I had. Now THAT’s great customer service! They have won me over to become a loyal Typecase customer! Thank you!”

Why We Recommend It
The rotating trackpad is a game-changer for anyone who uses their iPad for more than just typing. It allows the screen to be positioned in ways standard cases can’t, which is fantastic for drawing, video calls, or sharing your screen. Combined with the excellent keyboard and trackpad, it offers a uniquely flexible 2-in-1 experience.

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Excellent product, except I have to agree with complaints about the weight it added to the iPad. Although I won’t ding it any stars for the weight because I knew what I was getting into when I purchased. None of these keyboard cases are “lightweight” to be honest and add weight to the iPad. Yes, you can spend nearly $400 and get the Apple product and save SOME weight, but it is added weight nonetheless. With that said, the only lag I have found (which seems to be a complaint) is when the keyboard goes into sleep mode if left turned on. And yes, it makes it a little difficult to “find” the cursor, and get it moving, when using the trackpad to “wake” the keyboard up, that is super minor if you realize that it takes time for it to wake up and re-establish the Bluetooth connection. Again, it is not the $400 Apple keyboard that doesn’t use Bluetooth and never goes to “sleep” because it is hardware connected and uses the iPad battery for its power. The keys of the Type Case are well spaced for a guy with big mitts and are above average for their tactile feedback compared to others I’ve used on previous versions of iPads I have owned. Love the backlit keyboard colors and use the rotating color scheme on mine; although some colors are better than others at seeing the keys in low light situations. The Apple Pencil charging location is nice and protects the pencil from being knocked off the iPad. And I utilize the soft pencil holder for when the pencil is fully charged and I’m not using it; like when watching a movie or checking out YouTube videos. I cannot speak to the case’s protection capabilities because I haven’t dropped it and work hard to make sure I don’t because the case doesn’t appear to be capable of withstanding any kind of real fall, but I’m basing that on appearances only. Overall well worth the money and would purchase again if needed. I’ve used this product now for a little over a month and if there is any complaint, it is how stiff the hinge is when trying to open/close the keyboard, but if it wasn’t stiff, it probably wouldn’t hold up the iPad in various positions.”
Customer Review: “Update! I am super impressed with the customer service. I was contacted immediately after writing the review below and they took care of me, sent me a new one just a couple of days later and it just arrived today. It works great and I am thrilled with the customer service. If only every product had such great customer care. Changing my review to five stars. Thank you! Pretty good case. I ordered it months ago and just started using it this week. The problem is that right out of the box the N key only works if you basically pound your finger on it. It’s really frustrating and I missed the window to return it so I guess I have to keep pounding on the keyboard and hope it fixes itself . Not cool. I do like the lighted keyboard and the pencil holder on top.”
3. Magic-Style Magnetic Keyboard Case for iPad Air 11-inch and iPad Pro 11-inch with Multi-Touch Trackpad
This is the go-to budget-friendly option that doesn’t feel cheap. It uses a magnetic attachment system similar to Apple’s Magic Keyboard, making it easy to snap the iPad on and off. The floating cantilever stand is smooth and stable, and the multi-touch trackpad works well for basic navigation. The backlit keyboard with 3 brightness levels is a nice touch at this price point. It’s a no-frills, reliable workhorse.
Key Features That Stand Out
- ✓ Magnetic Easy-Set Stand: Simple one-motion attachment and smooth angle adjustment.
- ✓ Precision Multi-Touch Trackpad: Supports essential gestures for seamless iPadOS control.
- ✓ Backlit Keyboard: 3 brightness levels for typing in low-light conditions.
- ✓ Lightweight & Portable: More portable than many bulkier third-party cases.
- ✓ Great Value: Delivers core functionality at a fraction of the Apple price.
Why We Recommend It
If you want the core laptop-like experience without the premium price tag, this is your best bet. The magnetic design is convenient, the typing is solid, and the trackpad gets the job done. It proves you don’t need to spend a fortune to get a functional and enjoyable iPad Pro keyboard.

Pros:
- Excellent value for money with all essential features.
- Convenient magnetic attachment and easy one-hand adjustment.
- Surprisingly good typing feel for the price.
- Includes a functional backlit keyboard.
- Lightweight compared to many protective cases.
Cons:
- Trackpad is not as large or refined as higher-end models.
- Build quality is good but not as premium as Apple or top typecase models.
- Limited viewing angle range compared to cantilever designs.
Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “The keyboard sets up easily to Bluetooth on the iPad. Case is sturdy, magnet could be stronger but it stays connected to the iPad and has not dropped. Good value compared to others on Amazon. Keyboard is responsive, and works well with iPad.”
Customer Review: “This keyboard is fabulous. It works as described and doesn’t seem cheap or flimsy. It keeps a charge for a long time. I would recommend giving this a try before investing in one that is much more expensive. You have nothing to lose.”
4. CHESONA Case with Keyboard for iPad Air 11-inch and iPad Pro 11-inch with Multi-Touch Trackpad, 7-Color Backlit, Detachable Keyboard, Black
The CHESONA case offers a compelling mix of features, including a detachable keyboard and a 7-color backlit option. The multi-touch trackpad is functional, and the ability to pair with two devices simultaneously is a huge plus for users switching between an iPad and another device. Why We Recommend It
We like the detachable design, which gives you the flexibility of a standalone tablet when you don’t need the keyboard. The dual-device pairing is a standout feature for productivity. While the trackpad may require some tweaking to avoid accidental touches, the overall package offers great functionality for the price, especially for those who want more than just a fixed keyboard case.
Best For
Users who frequently switch between tablet and laptop modes and need a versatile, protective case that also offers the convenience of Bluetooth multi-device pairing.
Pros and Cons
Pros:
- Detachable keyboard offers true tablet flexibility.
- 7-color customizable backlighting.
- Can pair with two Bluetooth devices and switch between them.
- Provides comprehensive hard-shell protection for the iPad.
- Generally more affordable than premium branded options.
Cons:
- Trackpad can be overly sensitive, causing accidental clicks (often fixable in settings).
- Build quality, while good, isn’t as premium as higher-end competitors.
- May not be compatible with the very latest iPad Pro M4 models (check your model).
Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “I originally didn’t really like the keyboard because of the touchpad. Every time I typed, the touchpad was so sensitive, it would click on another line, so my entire text would be on a differently line. I also didn’t know I could change the color of my keyboard. I didn’t really figure out how to change it, but it didn’t bother me back then. I ended up coming back on here to see if anyone had the same problems as I did. I ended up reading through the description and honestly, I’m glad I did because I learned how to turn off the touchpad, which is a great relief. Now it’s been great. I don’t have any problems with it. The connection is fast and typing is easy. I’m so glad I rechecked because I honestly would have returned this because it was bothering me so much. I own the apple version and I’ve used it for 4 years, and I didn’t want to spend 100+ dollars again on it. This is not only cheap but has more features. It is worth the price and the quality isn’t bad.”
Customer Review: “Nice snug fit. Feels like a very high quality case. They keyboard is satisfyingly clicky and stays in place nicely.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “Just purchased and already a huge fan. Made the transition from a MacBook to an iPad Pro and was a bit hesitant about losing a built-in keyboard but this absolutely fills that gap. Comfortable to use and is the same size as my MacBook keyboard making typing an easy experience. I enjoy the customizable colors and the case overall is sturdy and good quality. Worth more than the price I paid in my opinion!”
Customer Review: “Works very well with the iPad and did not have to spend $350 for a keyboard case from Apple.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “The texture of the case is very nice. It makes for it to be a little on the heavier side, which I like. I didn’t want it to be too light where when you open it up it would fall over unless you had your hands on the keyboard. I can flip it open all the way without it falling over. The key board wakes pretty quick after in sleep mode, just hit any key and it’s ready to go. The touch pad is pretty cool too, I can pretty much surf through my entire iPad without touching the iPad itself. It has IOS shortcut keys also, but I haven’t learned how to use all of them yet. The lighted keyboard is nice also, you have the option to have the keys with 3 sections of color – end, middle, and end in whatever section you want or just have a regular white lighted keypad. I like that one, that’s what I have mine on. I’ve seen reviews where people have said that the pencil holder on the side wasn’t that good, actually, I don’t use mine, I keep my pencil on the magnet on top of the iPad. I don’t carry my iPad around, it just sets on the table. I had one of those magnetized keyboards and your iPad basically tri-folded up to the keyboard, and I like this type a whole lot better. A hard-shell cover case. The ability to turn your iPad 360 degrees, is nice for when you need to have the iPad vertically for some things and apps, (reading, certain apps, etc.) Other than that, I don’t really turn my screen around to show my screen. This case is perfect for me and for what I use it for, I recommend this keyboard pretty highly. Second review: This is a really great keyboard for my iPad Air, liked it so much, I bought one for my wife, (the purple one). The purple one has white keys and the color mode, whatever color you use, seems to make it a little harder to see the letters, so my wife just leaves the color off. That would be the only thing I can say negative about this keyboard case. I’ve had my case for some time now, and everything is still great about it. The rotation spindle is still tight even after I rotate it a lot more than I thought I would. Keyboard operates perfectly, easily wakes, and still keeps a timely charge. I can’t see myself using my iPad without this case. If something should ever happen to this case, I will definitely get another one. The price is super reasonable for this keyboard case. I’ve had cases that cost more that aren’t even as good as this one. I can’t really say enough about this keyboard case, this is the ONLY one you’ll ever need for your iPad. Thanks BABG for making a great product.”
Customer Review: “I recently purchased this for my iPad Pro 11” (4th Gen), and it has truly elevated my tablet experience. It seamlessly combines new functionality/versatility as well as improved protection, making it a terrific addition for my device. It offers excellent protection without adding unnecessary bulk. They have improved this from their earlier version where the base was much heavier. There is an important tradeoff to be made here. The keyboard needs to be heavy enough to counterbalance the iPad’s weight as the “monitor” when the device is open. If not, the unit will tip over every time you open it. BABG has done a good job of adding enough weight to the keyboard base part of the device so that this does not happen, yet light enough to not make the combined device feel like a brick. Its sleek design complements the iPad’s aesthetics, and the 360° rotation feature provides flexibility, allowing for various viewing angles suitable for typing, browsing, showing others, or watching videos. The backlit keyboard is a standout feature. The keys are tactile and responsive, making typing a breeze, even in low-light conditions. I have never encountered typing lag and I can type pretty fast. The integrated multi-touch trackpad enhances productivity, offering a laptop-like experience that’s both intuitive and efficient. It works way better (responsiveness) than expected (both the keyboard and trackpad) and is one of the reasons I took time to write this review. For me, it truly transforms the iPad into a highly useable laptop. Battery performance is stellar. I can go for extended periods without needing to recharge, and the Bluetooth connectivity is both swift and stable, ensuring a seamless user experience without interruptions. Beyond all the new functionality, the case offers comprehensive protection for my iPad, safeguarding it from scratches and minor impacts. The inclusion of a dedicated Apple Pencil holder is a thoughtful addition, keeping my stylus secure and always within reach. It does not have a magnetic holder for the stylus. Final Thoughts: the BABG Keyboard Case is an exceptional accessory that enhances the iPad Pro 11″ experience. Its combination of functionality, durability and sleek design makes it a worthwhile investment for anyone looking to maximize their device’s potential. And knowing their customer service is there and sincerely interested in resolving any issues, makes this a no-brainer for an iPad owner looking to enhance their investment. Highly recommended!”

9. Apple Magic Keyboard for iPad Pro 11-inch and iPad Air 4th/5th Gen with Built-in Trackpad, Great Typing Experience, US English, White
The original standard for iPad keyboards. Apple’s Magic Keyboard offers a seamless, almost magical integration with compatible 11-inch iPads. The scissor-switch keys provide a laptop-grade typing experience with excellent key travel, and the large, precise trackpad is industry-leading. Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “1st Impression: I was previously in the market for a new keyboard as at the time, I was just starting an accelerated Bachelor of Science Degree & needed a keyboard that could keep up with my busy life-to-be. In comes the apple keyboard for my iPad Pro. All I can say is, this did NOT disappoint. 4 years later, we have completed the entire Bachelors & a Masters Degree on this! FUNCTIONALITY: Lets face it, not all keyboards are created the same. This is a simple fact. The apple keyboard is so unbelievably user friendly & I can use the keys with minimal issues (If any). The keyboard pairs perfectly with my iPad & hasn’t given any problems over all of the years. This includes all of the many terms papers I’ve researched + written on here. DURABILITY: Apple products have held up over the years in my personal experience. When I decided to slurge on the $299 price tag, I had to know that this product not only deemed the purchase as “Worthy”, but held up to the rigorous experience ahead of it. After all, I bought this to assist me in the completion of a fast-paced degree. Thankfully, this did NOT disappoint in that test. As stated previously, even after all of the papers & research I’ve typed on here (Including this review), the keys have held up extremely well & have not faded even the slightest. I would absolutely tell me to go for it if they are on the fence about buying one of these for their devices. FIT: The apple keyboard fits the iPad Pro like a new pair of Bose NC headphones, just right & without any bulge. One part of the keyboard that I have come to love is the integrated charger port on the bottom left side. This especially comes in handy when charging the iPad so that I can use the iPad port to charge my iPhone or other electronics simultaneously. “THE VERDICT”: If you’re in the market for a good keyboard that’ll hold up to practically anything thrown at it, look no further than the iPad Pro keyboard. Despite its hefty price, it’s an investment that absolutely will be able to get you through whatever work you want & need to complete. I would buy again in the future if needed. I kept this review simple & to the point. Any questions that weren’t answered can be done in the comments below if needed. Thanks!”
Customer Review: “Ok so this is my first Apple branded iPad keyboard. I bought my M2 Air a few weeks ago at microcenter and also picked up a logitech combo touch. I was happy with that case but soon enough was plagued with issues like the keyboard not connecting and having to reboot the iPad and connect the keyboard to the case a certain way. So annoying. I started looking at alternatives and was thinking about the ESR case but then stumbled upon the “used, like new” option on the magic keyboard. It just works. Pros: – Immediate connection. – No hassles; I can pull the iPad off and use it as a tablet and then snap it back onto the keyboard case with no issues reconnecting. – Looks good. I really like the cantilever effect when I open up the case. The iPad floating is kind of neat. – Typing experience: this is nice to type on, I’m fairly accurate even for an 11” iPad. It’s small, but that’s fine. I had a Duet 3 and it was about the same size. – Backlighting is perfect and I love the keys glowing just perfectly in a low light condition. Cons: – Weight. This thing makes the iPad kind of heavy, but I’ll be carrying it in a backpack for my upcoming trip so that’s not a big deal. – Size. I have the 11” and it’s a little small, but like I said above, I came from a Duet 3 and it was about the same size. – Price. Holy cats, I bought this as a ”used, like new” and it was still $200. – No edge protection. That’s the only advantage the logitech offered. – No flap for the Apple Pencil. This is a niggle and if I want it, I can buy an ESR case with the flap to hold the pencil. Overall? This is a great option for a keyboard to turn your iPad into a semi-laptop/netbook. I love how easy it is to connect and just use.”

Customer Reviews
Customer Review: “The media could not be loaded. I love it! The magnet is always a big selling point when buying cases for this iPad (iPad Pro M4 13-inch) and this works great! Keys are nice and trackpad works amazing! Almost seamless connectivity! Open to wake feature is great as well! The color is good, I mean you can’t go wrong with black 🙂 My only pet peeve is that I feel as if the trackpad click is heavy and tough. Again, only a pet peeve as it’s still amazing. I would prefer it a little softer, almost like a haptic feedback but the product is still amazing. I also feel that it might get dirty easily cause of the material. I choose this one over the cheaper ones because of the reviews!! On Amazon it had 0 negative reviews and all the features had a check mark meaning they all worked great! No complaints from me. Definitely worth the price.”
Customer Review: “Excellent first well I like it! Durable, great quality and very sturdy, easy to navigate.”
Complete Buying Guide for Best Keyboard for Ipad Pro 2026 Review
Essential Factors We Consider
When choosing a keyboard, the first thing is compatibility. Ensure it fits your specific iPad Pro 2026 model (11-inch or 13-inch) and generation. Next, evaluate the typing experience: key travel, responsiveness, and layout are crucial for comfort. The trackpad is equally important—look for size, precision, and multi-touch gesture support. Consider the design and adjustability: a floating cantilever offers more angles than a fixed stand. Backlighting is a must for low-light work, and battery life varies widely. Finally, think about portability vs. protection. Some cases are thin and light, while others are bulky but offer more screen protection and a more stable base.
Budget Planning
Your budget dictates your options. At the premium tier ($250+), you get the Apple Magic Keyboard or top-tier third-party models like the typecase Edge, offering the best materials, trackpads, and adjustability. The mid-range ($100-$200) is where you find the best value, with excellent options from typecase and BABG that deliver 90% of the premium experience. The budget tier (under $100) has functional keyboards, but you may compromise on trackpad quality, build sturdiness, or long-term durability. Decide which features are non-negotiable for your workflow and allocate your budget accordingly.
Final Thoughts
The “best” keyboard is the one that best fits your personal workflow and device usage. If you live in your iPad for work, investing in a premium model like the Apple Magic Keyboard or typecase Edge is worth every penny for the typing and trackpad experience. For students and casual users, a fantastic mid-range option like the Magic-Style Magnetic or BABG case provides outstanding value. Always double-check your exact iPad model number before purchasing to avoid compatibility issues. With the right keyboard, your iPad Pro 2026 truly becomes a computer.
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Will these keyboards work with the new iPad Pro 2026 (M4/M5 chip)?
A: Most of the keyboards listed, especially from brands like typecase and BABG, are explicitly designed for the latest iPad Pro 2026 models (both 11-inch and 13-inch). However, always verify the product description for your specific model number (e.g., Axxxx for 13-inch, Ayyyy for 11-inch) to guarantee perfect compatibility before buying.
Q: Do any of these cases protect the iPad’s edges and corners?
A: Yes, most third-party cases like the CHESONA and BABG are full-body protective cases that cover the iPad’s back and edges. The Apple Magic Keyboard and some magnetic-style cases primarily protect the back and sides but leave the edges and corners more exposed. If you’re prone to drops, a full-body case like the BABG is a safer bet.
Q: Can I charge my Apple Pencil with these keyboards?
A: Many of the featured keyboards, including all typecase models and the BABG case, include a dedicated slot or holder that allows you to store and charge your Apple Pencil while attached to the case. The Apple Magic Keyboard does not have a built-in Pencil holder, which is a notable omission for some users.
Q: How important is a backlit keyboard?
A: A backlit keyboard is extremely useful if you work in dimly lit environments like cafes, airplanes, or at night. All the keyboards on our list except the base Apple Magic Keyboard (which has backlighting) offer some form of backlighting, with many providing multiple color options and brightness levels for customization.
Q: Is the added weight of these keyboard cases a significant issue?
A: Yes, adding a keyboard case will make your iPad significantly heavier and thicker—often doubling the weight. This is the primary trade-off for getting a laptop-like experience. For lap use, a heavier base (like on the BABG) can actually be beneficial for stability. For maximum portability, consider a slim, detachable keyboard instead of a full case.
Choosing the right keyboard can define your iPad Pro 2026 experience. Based on our testing, the typecase Edge stands out as the best overall choice for its superb adjustability, typing feel, and features. For the ultimate in flexibility, the typecase Touch with its rotating trackpad is revolutionary. And for the best integrated experience money can buy, the Apple Magic Keyboard remains the unrivaled benchmark. Consider your primary use case, budget, and must-have features from our guide to make the perfect choice for your workflow.
