I’d never heard of RIG before my wife bought me a wired set for my birthday. They were fantastic. The way these are designed, they keep the weight of the headset off of your head.. The only reason you know these are on is because of your ears. Sound quality, the environmental quality (eg. hear it left, you see it left when you turn left – Positioning, maybe? I dunno.. these are great for “positional hearing”) I put the set my wife bought me on my seat and went to the bathroom.. came back, and sat on em and broke them.. I may have had a few beers.. So, I enjoyed the headset so I looked at current RIG offerings, and came across this wireless set. Now, I’ve been thru the expensive ones, the “popular brand” ones.. and they were all crap. Batteries failed, didn’t last., no distance… whatever. So, I wrote off “wireless” headsets. BUT, with RIG, I was so impressed with the wired headset I sat on and broke, I saw this wireless set and decided to give it a go. I’ve been a gamer since, literally, Pong. Customer Review: “These headphones, which are the arctic nova five X wireless have the same exact drivers as the series 7 pro wireless. Nova has a 50 to 60 hour battery life. The seven has two interchangeable 20 hour batteries. Nova get one gold star lol. The nova has a companion app for your cell phone that allows you to control the equalizer and over 260 different presets for all different sounds. The series 7, requires you to connect to your computer with a wire via an extra peripheral called a gameDAC , and this thing would be convenient, but can’t hold remotely as much presets as the companion app for the cell phone for the nova. The nova can also be connected to your computer to add custom presets to your app which allows even more diversity, but you don’t need to. Nova gets another gold star. This year the nova introduced a new microphone that blows the series 7 microphone out of the water as far as sound quality And that’s another gold star for the nova. The nova has double wishbone suspension as a pull it to hold the cups firmly on the ears. The series 7 has only one arm on one side of each headphone cup. This can fatigue, the arm after a while, causing the cup to become a little relaxed, and it does not grip the head as hard. The nova is not too tight, but it is snug to keep the sound in. The series 7, also costs almost 3 times as much as the Nova 5x. The series 7 is made with aluminum and nicer materials, but they are also all interchangeable except for the main solid headband that goes across the top. Where as the nova five is made out of material and a thick plastic, it depends really on if you like aluminum or not, but you can’t tell by looking at it that’s just another difference. I have two friends now that bought the seven after I bought the five and they are very upset. I think I got mine on Amazon for under $120 and they spent a little over $300 for theirs. they are happy with the headphone because they’re a good headphones but they’re not happy that they spent the money not realizing that the series 7 is definitely going to be refreshed this coming year. Save yourself the money do you research steel series versus steel series on YouTube you’ll find everything you need to know about the two of them versus each other. This way to save your money for some more video games.. PS because of the 2.4 GHz/Bluetooth dongle. I was able to get the Xbox version faster and still connect it to my PlayStation five. Using the 2.4 GHz dongle. The only difference between the seven and the five is that the seven can connect to your console or computer and still using 2.4 GHz use two channel Bluetooth to also answer the phone. Then number five I believe has 2.4 GHz and Bluetooth, but you have to switch between the two of them when using the game console at least but the phone will ring in your ear to let you know you have a cold you just have to switch with one button on the side of the head. I think you’ll find the pricing a little confusing as the pros seven series also seems to fluctuate in price between the Xbox, the PC and the PlayStation version as much as $50 difference between them and there is no difference between them literally so I don’t know why there’s a fluctuation in pricing. Somebody knows I’m not sure if you can reply to my review but let me know? I hope this all helps. Just make sure if you do get the Xbox version for the PlayStation five that you have the 2.4 GHz dongle. It’s a long rectangle. It’s about 2 inches at best but it has a toggle switch. I got the Xbox one because it shipped immediately. I was gonna have to wait a few days more for the PC or the PlayStation version. I’ll tell you that the companion app on the cell phone does wonders using the 260+ presets for the EQ switch instantaneously and on the flight consistently without having to plug into the computer. And without having to worry about a gameDAC or two separate rechargeable battery packs that you have to swap into your ear every 20 hours when you just plug in the series 5 and get 60 hours worth of play. It’s not standby time by the way that’s playtime. You can play every day for eight hours a day for a whole week and still have some hours left over the sound quality is great and you’re just listening to music using your phone they pound. !!!”

Customer Review: “I had used the PlayStation exclusive headphones for the PS4 and PS5, and at the end of that journey I’m quite disappointed. Both pairs made my ears uncomfortable after having worn them for maybe 30 minutes. They would always cut out whether the dongle was plugged into the back of the PlayStation or into the front. I know that Sony’s pretty good about updating their firmware so there shouldn’t have been any issues in that regard. I spent so long asking people and reading through reviews until I finally settled upon these. So far I’m not disappointed! The ones that are labeled for Xbox are $50 cheaper than the ones labeled for PlayStation, and they’re the exact same thing. And the “Xbox” branded ones are compatible with PlayStation, Switch, PC, and mobile. They can also switch to Bluetooth mode if you don’t want to use the dongle, and the sound quality for music using my phone was actually pretty decent for middle of the road. The retractable microphone and alleged up to 60 hours of battery life makes the fact that they’re lightweight even better. And the most important part, they’re comfortable. They adjust to accommodate most head sizes I would assume. These gaming headphones are a great recommendation from me! I did read one review where somebody complained about the mic quality. Customer Review: “I’ve got a group of gamer friends that I occasionally chat with on PlayStation chat party. On my PS4, I just used a cheap, corded headset that had a TRRS plug that plugged into the PS4’s controller. Late last December, I half-heartedly ordered a PS5 via Sony’s website and to my shock, received a PS5 a few days later. The console’s been great, but the most prevalent issue I’ve had with it is the controller’s set up. The PS5’s controller has a built-in microphone and speaker. For one, I am hard of hearing so my friends’ voices through the tiny, tinny sounding speaker are barely audible to me. For another, every friend in chat has bluntly commanded me to stop using the controller’s mic; I sound terrible through it, apparently. I simply went back to my old, corded headset. However, friends regularly balked that I had an annoying “echo” caused by the PS5. The issue is, when you disable the PS5’s controller mic, you disable the input ring of the PS5’s TRRS jack. In other words, disable the controller mic, you disable the corded headset mic as well. So, I couldn’t eliminate my pesky echo via software settings. I decided to splurge and get a cordless headset. Initially, I wanted a headset that didn’t need a Bluetooth dongle, seeing as the PS5 supports Bluetooth devices……..So long as said devices aren’t speakers or microphones. So, yeah, I wound up needing the dongle that this headset comes with. Having gone through all this, I can say that this headset has easily paired to the dongle every time I’ve used it, and I get clear audio from my PS5. Battery life seems respectable, though I am very cautious about keeping it charged, so I can’t say I’ve pushed the limits in this regard. Finally, yes, this headset did away with my echo issue. Although… This headset has caused confusion among me and my friends. To me, my friends voices sound a tiny bit different. Our clan leader’s voice now has a slightly gravelly undertone to me that I haven’t heard before. A female friend’s voice sounds a little more squeaky than usual. And my British friend that has a very deep voice now sounds even more bassy to me. All of these friends I’ve mentioned, among others, all say that I sound differently. None of them will specify how though and all of them claim there’s a slight reverb to my voice now. So, none of us are able to discern if this headset’s speakers and mic are providing higher or lower quality audio to all of us. Despite all this, my friends seem relieved that my echo is gone now, and while I’m not a fan of plugging in the dongle, powering this headset up, and waiting for them to pair, I very much enjoy not being tethered to my controller, so it’s a tradeoff I’m willing to take. Finally, I have a very elliptically shaped head (I shave my head, that’s how I know) and my ears, as far as I’m concerned, are properly proportioned to my head. I have no fitment issues with this headset and can comfortably wear it for hours on end. So, if you want a wireless, over the ear headset, be it for a reason like mine or other and don’t want to spend hundreds on a name brand set, this one seems to be a good value.”

Customer Review: “TLDR: These are the best deal in gaming headsets right now just make sure to download the THX spatial software to really get the most out of them. It makes a HUGE difference! Trust me, it’s worth registering to get the activation code. I had the blackshark v2 for a couple of years and loved them. They were just solid wireless gaming headset. They sounded good enough, the mic was good enough to use at work too, and the battery life lasted all day easily. Sadly, my puppy decided to make them a chew toy so they are in headset heaven now. R.I.P. I liked them so much I was honestly considered just ordering another pair lol When I searched for them I saw there was a new version! This got me to research what’s new in the gaming headset world. Review after review, article after article, spoke VERY highly of these. My research led me to deciding between these, the v3 pro’s , and the Audeze maxwell (I am a sucker for Magnar Planar headphones). All the reviews I read stated the only real difference between these and the Pro’s is the ANC (noise cancelation) and that they sound virtually identical otherwise. So that left me with these or the Audeze and for HALF the cost of the Maxwell’s I figured I’d order these to try em out and if they weren’t good enough I’d just get the Maxwell’s (I KNOW those sound amazing they’re just heavy lol). Now that I’ve done some testing let me tell you these are INCREDIBLE. I am SHOCKED at what a massive upgrade they are from the Blackshark V2’s. I was pretty happy with those and these are drastically better. The ear cups are much more comfortable, the sound stage is insanely good for closed back cans, bluetooth WITH simultanious sound capability (you can connect to bluetooth AND 2.4ghz wireless at the same time. So you could listen to tunes from your phone while gaming on ur pc/ps5/switch/xbox. AT THE SAME TIME.), the addition of THX spatial surround sound is a GAME CHANGER , and they still do all the things the V2 did great as well like all day comfort, light weight, great comfy design, the fantastic “knob” , and all day+ battery life. I do mean ALL DAY plus too. I work from home using them a solid 9 hours every day then immediately fire up my gaming pc lol so the avg day is 10 hours at least and I’ve never once even gotten a low battery warning let alone having them die. Now, I need to mention you absolutely MUST download the THX spatial sound app if you have windows 11. I know it’s annoying but it is a massive improvement. It is not some meaningless gimmick that software takes this headset from “yeah that’s alright” to “WOW. That is INCREDIBLE”. The quick profiles are VERY noticeable. The bass boost actually does something meaningful to the sub bass (not just cause muddled nonsense lol) . Turning on THX Spacial and watching a movie with these really feels like being at the theatre. The sound stage is wild for a closed back gaming headset. If you are into nice headphones you know how much better the sound stage is on open back headphones and while yes, this isn’t quite that, it is one of the best I’ve ever experienced from a “gaming headset” let alone one that is only $150. AND IT’S WIRELESS!? Games are just as amazing. The details , sound stage, and again surround sound is fantastic. I know EXACTLY where those footsteps and gun fire are coming from. Explosions are FULL and ear shaking. The volume on these is also very good. Normally I am a “crank it” listener but with these at 70% i’m tapping out lol Music sounds full and detailed on this headset. I typically use speakers or my nicer plug in amp/cans for music but these are actually good enough I don’t IMMEDIATELY reach for them like I have for the past few years lol The bass on these is pretty solid and it does an impressive job at allowing the each sound/instrument have it’s own “lane” in the sound stage. There is very very minimal “muddying” when you have the music EQ dialed in. Overall, if you’re looking for a new headset OR having an aging wireless headset from the previous generation (v2, arctis 7, Hyper cloud alpha, A50, etc) I HIGHLY recommend you at least give these a try because you will not find anything remotely close at this price. To find a higher quality set you’re going to spend at least twice as much and they tend to be quite a bit heavier which is a bit rough for long sessions. If you need noise cancelation or the upgraded mic then spend the extra $100 on the Pro’s but if you don’t NEED those 2 features save the $ and buy these. I really can’t see how anyone could be disappointed with these if they are using the THX app and dialing in the EQ these bad boys absolutely SHINE. Just order them already and thank me later.”
