Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I’ve got a group of gamer friends that I occasionally chat with on PlayStation chat party. On my PS4, I just used a cheap, corded headset that had a TRRS plug that plugged into the PS4’s controller.Late last December, I half-heartedly ordered a PS5 via Sony’s website and to my shock, received a PS5 a few days later. The console’s been great, but the most prevalent issue I’ve had with it is the controller’s set up.The PS5’s controller has a built-in microphone and speaker. For one, I am hard of hearing so my friends’ voices through the tiny, tinny sounding speaker are barely audible to me. For another, every friend in chat has bluntly commanded me to stop using the controller’s mic; I sound terrible through it, apparently.I simply went back to my old, corded headset. However, friends regularly balked that I had an annoying “echo” caused by the PS5. The issue is, when you disable the PS5’s controller mic, you disable the input ring of the PS5’s TRRS jack. In other words, disable the controller mic, you disable the corded headset mic as well. So, I couldn’t eliminate my pesky echo via software settings.I decided to splurge and get a cordless headset. Initially, I wanted a headset that didn’t need a Bluetooth dongle, seeing as the PS5 supports Bluetooth devices……..So long as said devices aren’t speakers or microphones. So, yeah, I wound up needing the dongle that this headset comes with. Having gone through all this, I can say that this headset has easily paired to the dongle every time I’ve used it, and I get clear audio from my PS5.Battery life seems respectable, though I am very cautious about keeping it charged, so I can’t say I’ve pushed the limits in this regard. Finally, yes, this headset did away with my echo issue. Although… This headset has caused confusion among me and my friends. To me, my friends voices sound a tiny bit different. Our clan leader’s voice now has a slightly gravelly undertone to me that I haven’t heard before. A female friend’s voice sounds a little more squeaky than usual. And my British friend that has a very deep voice now sounds even more bassy to me. All of these friends I’ve mentioned, among others, all say that I sound differently. None of them will specify how though and all of them claim there’s a slight reverb to my voice now. So, none of us are able to discern if this headset’s speakers and mic are providing higher or lower quality audio to all of us.Despite all this, my friends seem relieved that my echo is gone now, and while I’m not a fan of plugging in the dongle, powering this headset up, and waiting for them to pair, I very much enjoy not being tethered to my controller, so it’s a tradeoff I’m willing to take. Finally, I have a very elliptically shaped head (I shave my head, that’s how I know) and my ears, as far as I’m concerned, are properly proportioned to my head. I have no fitment issues with this headset and can comfortably wear it for hours on end.So, if you want a wireless, over the ear headset, be it for a reason like mine or other and don’t want to spend hundreds on a name brand set, this one seems to be a good value.

Customer Review: Great set. Bought for destructive 10nyear old 3 months ago, still going

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: We have several gamers in our home XBOX and PC, teen to adults and they absolutely love the quality, sound and comfort.

Customer Review: TLDR: If you’re reading this, just pull the trigger. You’re reading this because you’re wondering if any of these reviews are real. I did the same thing.I’d never heard of RIG before my wife bought me a wired set for my birthday. They were fantastic. The way these are designed, they keep the weight of the headset off of your head.. The only reason you know these are on is because of your ears. Sound quality, the environmental quality (eg. hear it left, you see it left when you turn left – Positioning, maybe? I dunno.. these are great for “positional hearing”)I put the set my wife bought me on my seat and went to the bathroom.. came back, and sat on em and broke them.. I may have had a few beers.. So, I enjoyed the headset so I looked at current RIG offerings, and came across this wireless set. Now, I’ve been thru the expensive ones, the “popular brand” ones.. and they were all crap. Batteries failed, didn’t last., no distance… whatever. So, I wrote off “wireless” headsets. BUT, with RIG, I was so impressed with the wired headset I sat on and broke, I saw this wireless set and decided to give it a go.I’ve been a gamer since, literally, Pong. I have been in IT for over three decades.I’m impressed.. from the quality of the sound, the quality of the Mic, the battery life… EVERYTHING. Still the same lightweight “band” that keeps the headset weight off your head..You won’t be disappointed unless you get a unit that isn’t 100% functional from the factory like mine is… and lets face reality.. nothing is 100% in manufacturing.I’ve not had to deal with returns, refunds, or replacement… just a happy old guy who was impressed with the quality for the price. If you’re in the market and doing the due dilligence research… Like Nike Said… Just Do it. You won’t be disappointed.

Customer Reviews

Customer Review: I got these to replace my A50s and they did not disappoint! You don’t have as much control over the chat volume and game volume like you do with the A50s but it’s not a deal breaker for me. You can still control it on the headset with the buttons, but you can’t dial it in exactly how you’d want it. So thing to give up for the price point! Super convenient that it has a usb you plug into the console to connect it. I’ve never had any issues with connecting right away either. The fit is fine for me but it has rather a boxy shape to it but I still find it comfy. Have played for 12 hours straight and it wasn’t uncomfortable at all! The sound quality is great and you can hear so much going on in the game. Helped catch several people trying to sneak up on me in BF6

Customer Review: These are probably one of the best headsets I’ve had for the price. They work fantastically

Complete Buying Guide for Best Wireless Headsets For Xbox Series X

Essential Factors We Consider

When choosing a wireless headset for your Xbox Series X, several key factors determine the experience. Audio quality and spatial support are paramount—look for headsets with Dolby Atmos, Windows Sonic, or DTS Headphone:X for a competitive edge and immersive cinema. Battery life is critical; aim for at least 20 hours, with 40+ being a major bonus. Connection type matters: native Xbox Wireless is the most seamless, while a 2.4GHz dongle offers low latency but uses a USB port. Comfort is non-negotiable for long sessions—prioritize memory foam cushions and an adjustable, lightweight headband. Finally, consider microphone quality for clear team chat and cross-platform compatibility if you game on PC or other consoles.

Budget Planning

The market offers great options at every price point. The budget tier ($50-$80) delivers solid wireless audio and basic features, as seen with the Gamrombo. The mid-range ($80-$150) is where you find the best balance of performance, battery life, and comfort, with top picks like the Turtle Beach Stealth 500 and 600. The premium tier ($150+) offers the best spatial audio, build quality, and unique features like charging docks (RIG 800 PRO) or official Microsoft integration (Xbox Wireless Headset). Determine which features are non-negotiable for you and allocate your budget accordingly.

Final Thoughts

You don’t need to overspend to get a fantastic Xbox Series X headset. Our top pick, the official Xbox Wireless Headset, offers the most seamless experience, while the Turtle Beach Stealth 500 provides incredible battery life and reliability at a mid-range price. For the absolute longest battery, the BINNUNE is unmatched. Focus on your personal priorities—be it zero-fuss connectivity, marathon battery, or multi-platform use—and the perfect headset from this list will become your new favorite gaming gear.

Frequently Asked Questions

Q: Do I need a special adapter or dongle for a wireless headset on Xbox Series X?

A: It depends on the headset. Some, like the official Xbox Wireless Headset, connect directly to the console’s built-in wireless radio with no dongle needed. Most others use a small USB 2.4GHz dongle that plugs into the console. Always check the product specifications to see what connectivity method it uses.

Q: Can I use an Xbox wireless headset on my PC or phone?

A: Many can. Headsets with Bluetooth connectivity (like the Xbox Wireless Headset, Turtle Beach Stealth 500, and RIG 600 PRO) can pair with PCs, phones, and tablets. Some are limited to Xbox/PC via their USB dongle only (like the ASTRO A20). Always verify the supported platforms before buying if you need cross-platform use.

Q: Is Dolby Atmos worth it for gaming?

A: For competitive and cinematic games, absolutely. Dolby Atmos provides precise positional audio, allowing you to hear the direction and distance of footsteps, gunfire, and environmental sounds with much greater accuracy than standard stereo. It can offer a tangible in-game advantage and greatly enhances immersion in story-driven titles.

Q: How long should a gaming headset battery last?

A: A good wireless headset should last at least 15-20 hours on a single charge. Some models, like the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 (80 hours) and BINNUNE (120 hours), offer exceptional longevity. Consider your typical play sessions; if you game for 4-6 hours a day, a 20-hour battery means charging every 3-4 days, while an 80-hour battery might last over two weeks.

Q: Are over-ear or on-ear headsets better for gaming?

A>For most gamers, over-ear headsets are superior. They fully enclose the ear, providing better passive noise isolation, a more immersive soundstage, and often greater comfort for long periods due to less pressure on the ears. On-ear designs (like the Gamrombo) can be lighter and more portable, but may cause ear fatigue faster and offer less sound isolation.

Ready to elevate your Xbox Series X audio? Based on our testing, the Xbox Wireless Headset is the ultimate plug-and-play choice for seamless integration and fantastic spatial sound. If you prioritize battery life above all else, the Turtle Beach Stealth 600 or BINNUNE are unbeatable. For the best blend of features and value, you can’t go wrong with the Turtle Beach Stealth 500.
