Customer Review: Upgraded from a RTX 3080 12GB with AIO cooler. Firstly, this card is HUGE. I had to relocate the front radiator fans in my case to the outside of the case (which worked fine btw). It’s a MSI MPG GUNGNIR 110R mid-tower case, which I think is pretty standard as far as design and size. Second point, it’s very quiet. If I force it to full fan speed, you can hear it, but even then it’s nothing crazy loud in my opinion. It also has never needed to go full speed to cool on it’s own. Stays quiet and cool for long periods of 100% GPU load. I use it for 4K gaming while 4K streaming/recording, and highly modified games like Cyberpunk. I was skeptical of frame gen, but at 2x-3x it’s barely noticeable quality-wise. 4x and it starts to look bad. DLSS works fine without the frame gen too. As far as raw power (No DLSS, No frame gen), it can pull 60FPS at 4K on a maxed out demanding title. Lastly, price. Was it worth the upgrade? These prices are nuts. Plus I had to upgrade the rest of my 4 year old system so this GPU wouldn’t be bottlenecked. But it is what it is, prices aren’t ever going back down. This was a huge upgrade from a very capable 3080. I could still return and refund all of it, and I have no plans to do so.

Customer Review: I just received this card 24 hours ago, and if anything changes I’ll update this review. I upgraded from an eVGA 3090 Ti to this and I’m extremely pleased with the results. It’s obviously a solid improvement over what I had, and fit in my case (Hyte Y70) with no issues whatsoever. The card is pretty chonky so make sure you have the room to fit it, installation was a breeze and all I needed to do after the usual installation faffing around was to do a clean install of the drivers to support the 5080, that was all handled well by the Nvidia app and I’m plenty happy with how that all went. Performance is fantastic, and it’s incredibly easy to overclock. I overclocked the GPU with the Gigabyte utility in just a few clicks and it runs absolutely beautifully at 3150MHz on the GPU and 3000MHz on the memory (stock). No problems, no crashes it just works. If you’re coming from a 3000 series card like I was this is a solid investment and I highly recommend this as an upgrade. Even if you don’t overclock this I think you’ll be plenty happy with it’s performance improvement over your 3000 series card. I can’t comment on improvement over an equivalent 4000 series card personally, but I’ve heard the 5080 doesn’t offer much increased performance over the 4080 for the money. But that said, I can only quote what I have heard from several sources. If I had one complaint, the RGB on the card is pretty lack luster. Even at full brightness the fan LED’s are pretty unimpressive, and the LED’s on the top aren’t anything to write home about either. If you’re looking for a blinging card with a lot of RGB this card is definitely not that. But if you’re more concerned about price to performance this is a good option among the larger more well known brands. I also didn’t see anything in a comparison that said the Aorus Master was any better performing, and it’s $100 more for some lights and a screen you’ll never really need. This seemed like the better option since I already had enough LEDs in my case. At this point I highly recommend this card for anyone upgrading or otherwise seriously considering a solid 5080 solution.

Customer Review: I’ll start off by saying that I wasn’t expecting a whole lot from this card, given how the “xx60” models in Nvidia’s lineup have always been on closer to the “upper-entry level” side of the performance spectrum so to speak. It has been admittedly disappointing to see Nvidia essentially backtrack after having previously launched the 3060 with 12GB of VRAM instead of only 8GB that you’ll find in the 4060 (and subsequently this 5060). However, GDDR7 and PCIe 5.0 have both proved to have given the 5060 a substantial boost in memory throughout/bandwidth latency. Which ensured that at the very least, the 5060 wasn’t just the exact same situation that the 4060 has since then found itself having to deal with (i.e. slower GDDR6 memory + PCIe 4.0 on just a mere 128-bit memory bus significantly hindered the aforementioned performance aspects). This is something that’s not really discussed much, and it’s the primary reason the 5060 saw any meaningful uplift at all over the prior gen 4060 — seeing as the bus width & overall capacity is the same across both cards. Either way, I was pleasantly surprised and can actually believe that it performs nearly equal in rasterization to GPUs such as the 2080 Ti or 3070 (via TechPowerUp — average relative performance derived from 100 modern/demanding games’ worth of gameplay data). And despite gen-over-gen performance not always demonstrating meaningful gains, 50-series/Blackwell cards have honestly offered a lot more than the previous 40-series/Lovelace lineup. I haven’t used MFG/4X frame gen (or any frame gen, for that matter lol), but that’s largely due to having only played Rust (which only supports basic DLSS upscaling) for the most part in recent weeks. So I can’t comment on that, but I have seen a fair bit of review coverage & based on their data it considerably helps “smoothen” gameplay/framerates thanks to being able to keep the “total” average fps for the 1%/0.1% lows ABOVE monitor refresh rate. It doesn’t magically “create” frames that are identical to regularly rasterized ones, but essentially adds “filler” frames interlaced between them to drastically increase the perceived fluidity of gameplay. While also reducing/mitigating micro-stutters that would normally require having to rely on a Ryzen X3D CPU, or at the very least RAM that’s clocked as high as the CPU will handle & has as low of a CAS latency as possible. I also don’t use RT, for the most part out of preference for framerate > minor visual enhancements…but also I just try not to on cards such as this 5060, my old 3060 Ti, & my former laptop’s mobile 3070 Ti (which is really more of a desktop 3070 with a TDP of only 125w instead of 220w) due to being only 8GB cards or from the processing demand that RT has. That’s not to say that it (or any of the other cards mentioned) aren’t “good” at achieving adequate fps while RT is enabled, it just seems to continue impacting performance on lower end/entry level GPUs the way that it always has — which has resulted in making it feel like the performance penalty NEVER justifies whatever fidelity improvement that RT adds. Most games currently have opted to use sophisticated lighting techniques & texture behavior(s) that can be achieved via regular rasterization, often times providing well beyond a sufficient level of fidelity for 99% of people. ALL of that being said, however, RT can be phenomenal when it’s done right & utilizes the hardware efficiently. So I wouldn’t discount it completely, although it would likely provide the “best” experience overall having both DLSS upscaling enabled alongside RT in games where it’s possible. And that extends to frame gen too, seeing as it would inevitably improve the conditions (aka fps + 1%/0.1% lows) and provide a bit of overhead to allow for the use of RT. TLDR; ASUS did an amazing job with this card in terms of build quality, design, and performance. One thing that Blackwell cards REALLY improved on is efficiency, and as a result cards like the 5060 are only rated for a mere TDP of 150w. And with the dual fan or “SFF”-compliant cooler on this model, there’s easily still a ton of thermal headroom that can accommodate a hefty/manual OC without issue. Even without any RGB aesthetics, this card still offers a machined, finely detailed appearance/design that can be appreciated in regards to models that don’t even have a proper backplate for the GPU mainboard. The 5060 overall is an insanely efficient card with strong performance @ 1080p and around ~80% of titles @ 1440p that’s also comparable to previous gen flagship/upper-midrange cards. This ASUS model in particular just happens to refine the recipe to the point of being beyond adequate. Everything else was decent, although it’d start dropping frames on Warframe as well. So, I dropped the game settings lower. Division 2 was fine after that, although after a week, it started having issues again. With Helldivers, it didn’t matter what settings I had it on. The old card just couldn’t handle it without going into full Lockheed assembly line levels of fan usage. Warframe’s frames (HA) were noticeably bad at this point. Sadly, the old 80 just started getting hot enough to smell like hot metal. But, as one would think, finding a new “old” video card can be rather expensive. Thankfully, this one came up with a pretty decent price. Well, a very GOOD price, truth be told. While the 3k series is on the chopping block soon from loss of driver support, this should be sufficient for my needs until I can afford a new system. Installation went about as well as it could be done. Although I would warn folks to make sure your old drivers are removed before doing this. If you know, you know. Pros: It’s quiet for the most part, even under load. Once it does reach a point that it can be heard (and it will), it’s not all that noticeable unless you’re listening for it. List price is good, and while I could have gotten it the same day, I had other things going on that needed to be taken care of. Cons: Well…it’s a 3k series. The computer was already using DirectX 12, so that was good. I had 32 GB of RAM, and that was very good too. The main problem I saw was going from pcie 3.0 to pcie 4.0 with the RTX 3060. All the other versions after GTX 960 up to GTX 2xxx are on the pcie 3.0 standard. The RTX 3060 uses the newer pcie 4.0 version. Everything I read on the subject said that the RTX 3060 was in no way going to flood the 3.0 pcie port for some kind of bottlenecking. You will read tons of info talking about the dangers of bottlenecking . The next generation cards above are the RTX 4xxx and 5xxx use the 4.0 and 5.0 pcie versions, and that was too far for me to go with my old Windows 10. I tried to put Windows 11 upgrade on it, and Windows said NO way. Once I got everything installed and drivered up, I played some Tomb Raider Risiing on 4k Ultra settings. The game looks incredible and played fast. The benchmarks on the game were an average of 55fps in 4k. The real test was my new version of the Last of US Part one Remastered on Steam. The game was only playable at 1080p with GTX 960 installed. The RTX 3060 ran the new Last of US Part One game in 4k Ultra with it rendered in 2560.x1440p. Steam games, same thing, once Google stops supporting it, you need to go to Windows 11 or 12 eventually. Bottomline, don’t toss out that old Windows 10 computer too fast. With a few well placed upgrades like this RTX 3060, yo can revive an older unit on life support. I have no doubt that this revived computer will be good for a few more years. One other item I forgot to mention earlier, I’m running a Samsung 870 EVO on the Windows 10, and other research is telling me that the Ray Tracing on RTX cards run a lot better on fast M.2 SSDs. I only have a 500gb SSD drive and don’t have enough extra space to add a newer game with all the massive GBs they come with. What is the immediate downside here, Last of US P1 takes an interminable amount of time to load from external storage. I had to load this game directly on my laptop to get a normal load time. So I ordered a new Samsung 990 M.2 on AMZ with lightspeed capability. Ray Tracing is very intense and needs fast storage to process all that wonderful lighting effects. So one upgrade can lead to other issues that need solving. My new 990 M.2 will be here soon for Ray Tracing goodness. Half Life 2 even has an RTX version that I’m dying to try out also. So far, the garaphics from Last of US Part 1 are literally blowing away whatever anyone ever saw on PS3 at 720p. The updated visuals are ridiculously better without Ray Tracing working to its optimum. Another note, my laptop got a new infusion of RAM to 32gb, and that also made the new game run better by a mile. Don’t be afraid to upgrade that old computer. There are some good prices for new computers though. If I notice anything earth shattering once I connect up the Samsung 990 I will try to update this review.
