Before installation, the temps were around 98°c, but after the temps never broke 65°c. I was slightly skeptical when ordering due to the low price and unfamiliar brand, but the performance is truly incredible, and I cannot recommend it enough. It came with fitting brackets for a number of different sockets, including my LGA 1150, and even had TF7 thermal paste, which was a more than welcome surprise. Installation was genuinely easier than the OEM Intel heat sink, though you will need access to the back of your motherboard, so if you don’t have an detachable back panel, be prepared to pull out the whole board. It fit perfectly in my case which I assume is around average size, leaving about 2cm or so clearance from the side panel once put back on. If you have a thinner form factor case, I’d check to make sure it’ll fit, but it should fit the vast majority of full size cases. Customer Review: This is a review of the Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120SE. I read many performance reviews online before purchasing this. According to those reviewers, this offers top-tier cooling vs noise at a fraction of the price. It even competes with some AIOs. I recently replaced an AIO with this, the first air cooler I’ve used in a while. I did it because this computer is getting long in the tooth, and I’m more concerned about long-term reliability than a couple of degrees Celsius. If you are building a new computer, this is much easier to install and more reliable than an AIO water cooler. Compared to my old NZXT Kraken X63, this gets very similar cooling performance. The temperatures fluctuate more than they did with the AIO, but the minimum idle temperature is now slightly lower than it was with the AIO, and the max temps are only a couple of degrees hotter than they were with the 280mm AIO. This is all despite the fact that I used about half of the normal amount of thermal paste due to a screwup on my part. As long as you’re not using a processor with a very high TDP, this is the ideal cooler. Note: you should prefer this over the 120 EVO. Yes, the EVO has RGB and can get you a couple of degrees cooler on higher TDP processors, but at the cost of much higher noise. If you’re using anything less than 170watt CPU, this is probably the better choice. Addendum: now using this on two computers. Zero regrets. Addendum: this cooler does make it more difficult to replace the M.2 drive without removing the cooler. Not impossible, just obnoxious. Addendum (November 2024): started getting obnoxious fan noises about a half year later. Thankfully, there are a variety of fans you can replace these with that will produce reasonably similar performance, including the Arctic P12 or the Noctua NF-A12x25 (the latter being about as expensive per fan as this entire cooler with included fans).

Customer Review: I usually wait a while before coming back to review a product, to see how things work out over time. This time I’ll make an exception …I have a i3 Skylake build for my home office. My CPU monitor was consistently pinging me that my temps were going over 80c under normal use…under idle, it usually hovered around 50 to 60. The case was free of dust and temps in the room were always not nearly hot enough to explain it. Opened my case up yesterday to install a new vid card and decided to also get rid of the original Intel fan and get a better solution. I searched Amazon and this option popped up on top of the list. The reviews and feedback were so good I only scanned a few other options before coming back to this one and pulling the trigger. Same day delivery was an added bonus! Installation is a bit of a project, but nothing anybody with a bit of experience with this kind of thing can’t handle. On most mobos you will need to remove the whole board to get the included mounting bracket on the back. As a bonus its nice they include a (necessary) long screwdriver for the main mounting screws, and some quality thermal paste. The entire kit is very solid, quality materials. I mounted mine so the fan directly faces the rear fan in my case. That way the cooling fan pulls air through the block across the CPU, and the rear fan sucks it out the back of the case. Super quiet I hardly know its even on. I recommend searching YouTube for tutorials, I found a couple of guys that walked through the details of how they got it installed with minimal hassle and no errors. Always a huge help and makes it go that much smoother. Immediately after installation I booted up and checked the CPU monitor. CPU temp now hovers under 30c (27 / 29) at idle. In fact, with about 10 Brave tabs open and normal clicking around / typing, its *still* right there at the same temp. Does not even rise at all! Running 3 YouTube videos in separate tabs … still does not even budge. I haven’t tried any rendering or anything that seriously taxes the CPU yet but for normal every day use this thing is doing its job like a champ! Can’t speak to long term use but based on all the positive reviews I’m confident its most likely going to continue to do so!

Customer Review: I put this on an 5900XT (16 cores, 32 threads). It runs cool, it’s quiet, well made, and it looks nice. Temps have never gotten close to throttling levels so far. It’s far more reasonably priced than water coolers. Mounting wasn’t difficult, but you need to change the motherboard fan mounts. Examine the instructions carefully as the mounting brackets are not interchangable, and need to be in a specific orientation. Be aware the heat pipes extend out over the RAM, and there may be clearance issues with some RAM modules. It’s also pretty large, and it may not fit in smaller cases.

Had zero compatibility issues and PC temps haven’t budged since. With Corsair’s known quality this should last the life of the PC and longer. The efficiency is noticeable and the sound isn’t, it is very quite for an AIO. It is a bit simple by todays standards of RGB and onboard diagnostics. Customer Review: I was skeptical about buying this, from the reviews it offered very high cost to thermal performance. I briefly considered getting a liquid aio now that they have caught up to air coolers in cooling and noise performance, but went with this for the better reliability. I am so glad that I did. I had a g1 nh-d15 on my 14900k that performed adequately, but was much louder than I would have liked. This thing is almost dead silent even running 6 game clients – I have to move my ear to within about 1.5 feet of the top of my case to hear it. I can feel in the temperature of the room it is remove more heat from the CPU. The kit was the best kit I’ve ever been shipped, they gave a proper torx screw driver, clear instructions, the individual components are separated into different bags that contain only the components from each step of the instructions (instead of one big bag).
